Nuestra NEBRIJA 30 - julio 2019

35 works began with the POWER project, of the 2014 national plan, together with the Univer- sity of Castilla la Mancha and the University of Jaén, and are continuing with two recently ap- proved projects: one from the Community of Madrid, coordi- nated by INSIA (SEGV-AUTO), and the continuation of POWER in the Research Challenges 2018 call (RECUPE- RA-ME and RECUPERA-TE). Most shock absorbers are of the viscous type, where the energy of vibration is dissipated by forcing the passage of a fluid through holes at the moment when the shock absorber extends or compresses. The number and size of these holes is what provides, among other things, the degree of shock absorption. The effect of energy dissi- pation occurs due to the loss of loads when pas- sing through the holes, resulting in an increase in the temperature of the fluid. The work carried out to date has focused on stu- dying the possibility of replacing the shock ab- sorber of conventional vehicles with some devi- ce that, instead of dissipating energy, allows it to be recovered and exploited without losing the absorption capacity of vehicles. We have studied different systems and developed a shock absorber based on a cable transmission named CD-EHSA (Cable Dyna- mics-Energy Harvesting Shock Absorber). The power that can be recovered logically depends on the speed and the type of vehicle and road, although it can be approximately 115-140W per shock absorber. A modest value, but an amount of energy that can be valuable. For the recovery of thermal energy, thermoacous- tic systems have been used. In summary, it is ob- taining the heat of a particular source (for exam- ple, exhaust gases) to contribute to generating pressure waves in a suitably designed acoustic circuit and whose energy can be converted into electrical energy. The value of solutions to recover energy is not only in the amount of energy that is collected, but also in contributing to awareness of the nonsense of wasting natural resources as if they were infini- te and can be used indiscriminately. F rom N ebrija , work is being done to replace the vehicle ' s shock absorber with a device that can recover energy
