Adelantándose una vez más, la Universidad Ne- brija lleva algunos años trabajando en este entorno cambiante, con toda una línea de programas aca- démicos de calidad orientados a responder a las necesidades formativas de jóvenes y profesionales de todo el mundo. Fuimos los primeros en tener un Grado en Seguridad, que hoy se ha visto completa- do con diversos programas Máster y el Doctorado en Seguridad y Análisis de Riesgos y Conflictos, lo- grando con ello una oferta formativa sin igual en el panorama nacional y muy destacada en el ámbito internacional. Los acuerdos institucionales con el CESEDEN y la Secretaría de Estado de Seguridad (España), ESDEGUE (Co- lombia), el Colegio Intera- mericano de Defensa (EE. UU.) y otras muchas insti- tuciones militares, policia- les y vinculadas a la segu- ridad, ratifican lo acertado de esta apuesta que fue pio- nera y hoy comienza a ver- se seguida, aunque solo puntualmente, por otras universidades españolas. Todo ese trabajo previo ha culminado en el pre- sente curso académico con dos nuevas realidades que esperamos contribuyan a la consolidación de Ne- brija como la institución universitaria de referencia en la materia. La creación del Departamento de Se- guridad y Defensa dentro de la Facultad de Derecho y de Relaciones Interna- cionales ha sido el paso administrativo lógico que ha dado nuestra Universidad para organizar más eficientemente los estudios de seguridad y defensa que, por su propia naturaleza, siempre tienen un carácter transversal. Y, en segundo lugar, la adjudi- cación por parte de la Unión Europea de la Cátedra Jean Monnet EUDEFENCE, primera cátedra euro- pea en seguridad y defensa europeas concedida en España y segunda a nivel continental, que aspira a ser un polo de referencia en la transferencia de co- nocimiento y difusión de los avances investigativos que en la materia seamos capaces de consolidar. EUDEFENCE, cofinanciada por la Unión Euro- pea y la Universidad Nebrija, nace por tanto con la Taking the lead once again, Nebrija University has been working in this changing environment for some years, with a comprehensive series of quality academic programs aimed at responding to the educational needs of young people and professionals from all over the world. We were the first to have a Bachelor’s Degree in Security, which today has been completed with various Master’s programs and the Doctorate in Security and Risk and Conflict Analysis, thus achieving an academic offer that is unparalleled at the national level and very prominent in the international field. Institutional agreements with CESEDEN and the Secretary of State for Security (Spain), ESDEGUE (Colombia), the Inter-American Defense College (USA) and many other military, police and security-related institutions confirm the wisdom of this path, which was ground- breaking and today begins to be emulated, although only occasionally, by other Spanish universities. All this previous work has culminated in the current academic year with two new realities that we hope will contribute to the consolidation of Nebrija as the university institution of reference in the matter. The creation of the Department of Security and Defense within the School of Law and International Relations was the logical administrative step that our University took in order to more efficiently organize security and defense studies that, by their very nature, always have an interdisciplinary nature. And, secondly, the awarding by the European Union of the Jean Monnet EUDEFENCE Chair, the first European research chair on European security and defense awarded in Spain, and the second on a continental level, which aspires to be a point of reference in the transfer of knowledge and dissemination of the research advances that we are able to obtain in the matter.
