C uando Manolo Plaza (Cuenca, 1960) se estre- nó en el Rally Dakar en 1996, su hija Mónica tenía tres meses y la prueba todavía discurría por África. Ahora comparten cabina y pasión en los paisajes de Arabia Saudí, donde ambos se estre- naron como tándem en la edición de 2020. En su cuarta tentativa cuentan con el apoyo de un equi- po de universitarios único en la prueba. “Me llena de motivación. Trabajar rodeado de jóvenes es re- frescante. Esta alianza involucra a gente nueva con deseo, entusiasmo y valores que se alinean con los nuestros, gente que quiere aprender e innovar cada día”, indica a EL PAÍS el campeón de España de Ra- llies de 1994.
