Durante esta etapa, se ofrecerá a los interesados la oportunidad de experimentar la conducción de un vehículo autónomo físico en un en- torno controlado, con el objetivo de estudiar las acti- tudes y opiniones de las personas cuando utilizan esta tecnología en primera persona. Los vehículos autónomos tienen el potencial de transformar nuestra vida cotidiana: pueden redu- cir drásticamente los accidentes, optimizar el tráfico en las ciudades y ser de gran ayuda para las perso- nas con movilidad reducida o alguna limitación para conducir. Pero su aceptación no depende solo de los avan- ces tecnológicos, sino tam- bién de cómo la sociedad en su conjunto y la legislación vigente en cada ámbito se adaptan a estas innovaciones y las incorporan en su vida cotidiana. Por eso, la labor del CINC es tan importante. “Estamos ante un futuro que ya es pre- sente, y nuestro papel es con- tribuir a que sea un presente que todos podamos entender y disfrutar”, concluye Duña- beitia. El trabajo conjunto del CINC y el grupo GREEN está abriendo las puertas a la in- vestigación en la integración de tecnología de vanguardia con la psicología y las diná- micas sociales. Así, el enfoque de la investigación va más allá de simplemente poner a prueba la tecnología de los vehículos autónomos. Se centra en entender la relación entre la experiencia directa con estos vehícu- los y su aceptación. ¿Cómo cambia nuestra opinión sobre algo cuando lo experimentamos directamente? ¿Cómo podemos usar esas experiencias para despejar dudas y miedos y ayudar a las personas a entender y adoptar los vehículos autónomos? ¿Cuál ha de ser el camino para la introducción paulatina y aceptada de esta nueva movilidad? Estas son las preguntas que el equipo de inves- tigadores busca responder a medida que avanza en su proyecto. The joint work of the CINC and the GREEN group is opening the doors to research in the integration of cutting- edge technology with psychology and social dynamics. Thus, the focus of the research goes beyond simply testing autonomous vehicle technology. It focuses on understanding the relationship between direct experience with these vehicles and their acceptance. How does our opinion of something change when we directly experience it? How can we use those experiences to dispel doubts and fears, and help people understand and adopt autonomous vehicles? What should be the path for the gradual and accepted introduction of this new mobility? These are the questions that the research team seeks to answer as it makes progress on the project. And the findings are promising: demonstrating that first-hand experience with autonomous vehicles can change people’s perception of them and increase their acceptance is an important step towards making this technology beneficial to society and enabling us all to enjoy a safer and more efficient mobility. 15 Nuestra Nebrija
