Nebrija ResearchDoctoral School

The Doctoral School comes under the Vice-Rectorate for Research, and has the mission of managing, coordinating and promoting doctoral programmes. It is responsible for coordinating and facilitating the training of researchers aiming to obtain a doctorate according to research standards of quality and excellence.

The organization of the School complies with the following legislation:

• Royal Decree 576/2023, of July 4, which modifies Royal Decree 99/2011, of January 28, which regulates official doctoral studies.
• Royal Decree 99/2011, 28th January, which regulates the official doctorate teaching .
• Internal Regulations of Nebrija University Doctoral School.

According to the Internal Regulations of the Doctoral School at Antonio de Nebrija University, this school has been entrusted with the following

Académic functions

• Planning and proposing the Doctorate Programmes offered by Antonio de Nebrija University, encouraging the maximum quality in their development, according to the concerns and initiatives of the different academic departments.
• Coordinating and actively participating in the quality assessment processes of the different programmes: not only in their verification, but also in their monitoring and accreditation.
• Planning, disseminating, organising and supervising those activities inherent to the training and development of doctoral studies, aimed to those doctoral students and researchers linked to the Doctoral School, on the one hand, in order to fulfil the achievement of the competencies set in the verified memory, and on the other hand, to encourage research and teaching excellence of the University's faculty. The representation and participation in institutions or activities related to research training will be under the responsibility of the Doctoral School.
• Setting the assessment criteria of Doctorate students, focusing on the training and professional objectives of each programme.
• Monitoring and controlling programmes according to the assessment of the different training and research activities of Doctorate programmes.
• Assigning the proper teaching to training activities organised and assess the faculty's teaching activity taking part in them.
• Promoting quality measures in those doctoral theses developed in our Doctorate Programmes fostering their excellence and impact indicators.
• Fostering cooperation with external institutions and researchers in order to incentivize internationalisation and research excellence. In the case of inter-university programmes, the Doctoral School will take over the coordination functions altogether with the institutions in the consortium.
• Fostering the mobility of the faculty and students related to the Doctorate Programmes.

Administrative Functions

• Taking over those administrative tasks pertaining the doctorate studies. In cooperation with Course Secretariat, it will guard both records management of the enrolment administrative process, academic certificates issuing, qualification processing, and other administrative procedures entered in the Doctorate SGIQ processes annex.
• Any other functions attributed by the rules regarding the organisation and procedure of Antonio de Nebrija University.

• Director of the Doctoral School: Juan Arturo Rubio Arostegui. His main functions and responsibilities are, among others, to lead, promote, direct, coordinate and supervise the activities of the Doctoral School, as well as ensuring the fulfillment of the mission, objectives and functions.
• Doctorate Programmes Coordinators: Pedro Reviriego Vasallo and Anna Doquin de Saint Preux. They are responsible for the academic management of the Doctorate Programmes in Industrial Technologies and Applied Linguistics, respectively.
• PhD Tutor: professor of the Doctorate Programme, in charge of advising the PhD student in administrative and academic matters.
• Thesis Director/s: professor of the Doctoral Programme who directs and guides the doctoral student during the preparation of his/her thesis.
• Academic Committee: responsible for the planning, supervision and monitoring of the doctoral training and research activities, including the Research Plan. Likewise, it is in charge of the selection of tutors and directors and of the admission of the applicants to the programme. It is composed by researchers assigned to the doctoral programme.
• Doctoral Commission: the main goal of the doctoral commission is to supervise and authorize all the procedures involved in doctoral dissertation, as well as to control and approve any of the research processes related to the doctoral programme. It is responsible for calls for scholarships, grants and prizes and their delivery. It is formed by the Vice-rector, the Director of the Doctoral School, and the doctorate programmes coordinators.

En cada curso académico, hasta la lectura de la tesis, el estudiante deberá renovar la matrícula en el periodo establecido (normalmente en el mes de diciembre).

• En el primer año el doctorando ha de abonar los derechos de inscripción: 1.550€.
• A partir del segundo año y hasta finalizar la tesis debería abonar los derechos de tutela anual, tiempo completo 1.100€ o tiempo parcial 570€.
• Para poder defender la tesis, el doctorando deberá abonar el Depósito de tesis: 1.600€.
• Expedición del título de doctor: 311€
• También anualmente se puede solicitar a la Comisión de Doctorado las exenciones parciales de las tasas de doctorado, para los doctorandos que colaboren activamente en grupos Nebrija de investigación.

Admission and registration deadlines vary depending on the doctoral program. For more details, please visit the website of each program. However, all programs follow the same structure:

• Application: Please email the completed and signed admission application along with the required program documentation. Refer to the "Application" section of this website for more information.
• Provisional Resolution: You will receive an email notification about the provisional resolution of those admitted to the doctorate.
• Claims: A period of three days is provided, starting from the notification of the provisional resolution, to submit any claim via email.
• Final Resolution: Claims will be resolved and an email notification will be sent out with the final list of those admitted.
• Sending Physical Documentation: If you are admitted, please send the completed and signed application along with the previously sent documentation from the admission process, by postal mail to:

Please note that if the required documentation is not provided within the established period, the Doctoral School will cancel the enrollment application.

• Enrollment:
  Enroll through the Universitas XXI application.
  Please email the proof of payment corresponding to the registration fees and annual tuition fees for the doctorate program to admincp@nebrija.es and escueladoctorado@nebrija.es.
  Students who are admitted but do not complete enrollment within the period indicated by the Doctoral School will forfeit their place in the program.

• Tesis Doctoral de D.ISAAC OSEI, doctorando del PROGRAMA DE DOCTORADO EN LÍNGÜÍSTICA APLICADA A LA ENSEÑANZA DE LENGUAS de esta Universidad, que versa sobre: “Competencia estratégica para la comprensión lectora de E/LE. Estudio de caso de estudiantes universitarios ghaneses en el nivel B1”. Está en depósito y exposición pública hasta el próximo día 5 de agosto 2024.

Doctoral theses that are in the publicity period according to the regulatory Protocol for the call and defense of the doctoral thesis at Nebrija University.

Doctors can consult the theses at the Doctoral School escueladoctorado@nebrija.es and send in writing the observations and allegations that they consider appropriate on their content through a report of allegations (Model 4).
